Cingular to get E61?
This is no real shock, since Cingular gets all the best GSM phones first in the US
From the new Barron's:
"Fans such as Bernstein's Sagawa also are encouraged by Nokia's latest line of mobile e-mail phones for corporate workers, called the E series, and led by the E61.
Aimed at Research in Motion's (RIMM) BlackBerry, Palm's (PALM) Treo and Motorola's Q, the E Series devices are unparalleled, in the view of some fans. These products combine third-generation, or 3G, cellphone technology; Wi-Fi Internet connectivity; traditional QWERTY keyboards; Voice-over-Internet-Protocol; push-to-talk (think walkie-talkies) and e-mail. "There are no other products on the market that compete with these models' specifications," Sagawa maintains.
Nokia's stock, stalled for the past two years, could climb at least 15% -- and possibly much higher -- over the next year.He reports that Cingular plans to offer the E61, which is aimed squarely at the BlackBerry, early next year, at prices below that of BlackBerry devices that don't have 3G or Wi-Fi. "We expect these products to be strong contributors to Nokia's overall profitability," Sagawa says.
